The New Port Theater will begin showing “The Life of Pi” in 3-D on Wednesday with free soft drinks during matinee showings and half-price concessions on opening day to welcome the holiday season.
The movie, which was directed by Ang Lee and which has received rave reviews, is based on Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel and tells the story of a boy called Pi who spends nearly a year on a lifeboat with a tiger.
“We really want the community to enjoy the film,” said theater spokeswoman Liga Svikss.
The film’s first showing at the Port will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and it will run through Dec. 13. To see a complete listing of show times or to buy tickets in advance, click here.
The Port Theater also is planning discounted admissions to the movie during the Corona del Mar Christmas Walk on Dec. 2, but details were not immediately available, Svikss said.
